- William Guyについて同時代の伝記記事を読んでいたら、biasという表現のかなり興味深い使い方を発見した。これは多分「傾向」くらいの意味で使われており、特にnegativeなコノテーションはない。
Very early in his professional career Dr. Guy showed a decided bias towards the inquiries commonly known as " statistics," and we accordingly find him elected a Fellow of the Statistical Society, in 1839, and one of its Honorary Secretaries in 1843. (photographes p. 61)
- historical epistemologyの一部分としてのbiasの歴史に興味があるのだが、この単なる傾向性くらいの意味のbiasが、認識主体の認識活動に伴う歪みのようなものとして理解されるようになったのはいつからなのだろうか。

- Guyについての研究文献が見つかるかと思ったが、まったく見つからなかったので、あまり参考にならず。
- political economyにおけるstreetという話はわりとおもしろいと思うのだが、あまりpolitical economyについては掘り下げられていなかった。

- beggerのimmediate attentionを求める戦略と、それがpolitical economyのようなnuanced investigationをfrustrate刺せるということへの注目。beggerによるimmedicacyを利用して感情を揺さぶる戦略についての分析がある（p. 39）。
- Guyのindiscriminate alms-giving批判は、個々人が適切なdiscriminateする能力をもたないことを前提としているが、Guyの批判者たちはこれを受け入れなかった（自らの視覚と判断力を信じた）という指摘(pp. 40-41)。これはわりとわたしの議論とも接続しやすそうなポイント。ここでの情報源はPlauge of Beggersだが、これは匿名出版なのでGuyのものとして言えるかどうかは要検討。
- 著者はPlauge of BeggersもThe Evils of EnglandもGuyの著作だという立場。
